Business Resources: Development & Assistance
Building a Stronger Business
BUSINESS DIRECTORY LISTING
Included in your membership investment is an alphabetical and categorical listing for your business/organization in the Portland Chamber of Commerce Business Directory. This guide goes out semi-annually to the entire membership, who is asked to use this resource prior to picking up the 'Yellow Pages.” These directories are also sent out in relocation and business packets as well.
Your business is listed free of charge on the Portland Chamber's website in the Business Directory.
We receive calls daily asking business questions and looking for referrals. Any and all referrals go only to members of the Portland Chamber of Commerce. The Portland Chamber of Commerce also furnishes relocation and business lists to those who are interested. Members can take advantage of these opportunities by supplying us with brochures, rack cards or business cards for insertion in these packages and in our Membership Rack in the office.
Membership in the Portland Chamber of Commerce provides you with an opportunity to get involved. Members are invited to join a committee and add their voice to an area of their interest and/or expertise. Your level of involvement is completely up to you; the more you are involved, the greater the benefits.
PROMOTING THE COMMUNITY
We provide lists of community events and local non-profits as well as visitor and relocation information about Portland. The Portland Chamber holds our Annual Windfest to promote the community and our business members. We hold an annual Style Show which helps support the Patrice Worsham Scholarship Fund to assist local students. The Chamber's Annual Banquet promotes local businesses with awards that are presented to the Ambassador of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Business Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year, among others.
STRENGTHENING A STRONG ECONOMY
We encourage members and Portland residents to shop locally. All referrals given by the Portland Chamber of Commerce are to our members. Our website has detailed information about local businesses in the community. We also provide many educational opportunities throughout the year such as Business Development Programs, Business Initiatives and Monthly Member Luncheons.
PROVIDING NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
Promote networking by sponsoring quarterly Business After Hours Mixers at your business. The mixers are an excellent opportunity to meet other Chamber members and to learn about their businesses. We also offer our weekly Tuesday morning “Coffee with the Chamber” at 8am to network with other business professionals and Members.
REPRESENTING BUSINESS TO GOVERNMENT
While you keep your business running, the Chamber is watching issues like Workers' Comp, Healthcare, and anti-business bills. Legislative information is available on the Chamber's website.
We are here to provide your business with the necessary information, whether it be local, regional, state or national, to keep you aware of what is happening in business, and help answer your business related questions. You can access demographics, community, non-profits, clubs/organizations, community events, legislative, employment and educational information from our website and staff resources.
The Portland Chamber’s weekly E-Blast, Chamber Sponsored Events and Chamber website offers great advertising opportunities to promote your business.
