Youth Leadership Gregory-Portland is a pro-gram produced by the Portland Chamber of Commerce and Portland Leadership Alumni Association in partnership with Gregory-Portland ISD for 10th and 11th graders who attend GPISD or are from an approved home-school.

The purpose of the Youth Leadership Gregory-Portland program is to train students in leader-ship techniques and community awareness. They will become familiar with current issues community resources, opportunities and other factors influencing the direction of their com-munity’s future. Through their participation in the program, the students will be prepared to make a positive impact on the quality of life in their community.

The program is a series of nine sessions covering areas such as city/county government, economic development, social needs, person-al skills and other key topics in our community. The program also includes an orientation with parents, a full-day retreat and a graduation ceremony. This program will present in-depth classes that will acquaint participants with community challenges and resources and al-low interaction with community leaders and decision makers.

Applications will be accepted starting May 1, 2023 and must be submitted by: September 5, 2023 and may be submitted either by mail or in person to the following locations:

Youth Leadership Gregory-Portland APPLICATION 

Selection

Participants for Youth Leadership Portland are select-ed based upon their completed application. The pro-grams seeks students who represent a cross-section of Gregory-Portland. The following criteria will be used in selection:

 Must demonstrate interest in acquiring leader-ship skills
 Must be willing to commit to attend all class sessions
 Must have a parent(s)/guardian(s) permission

Tuition

Tuition for the program is $100 and includes:
 Meals
 Breaks
 Supplemental Transportation
 Course Materials

Sponsors subsidize remaining cost of the program. Scholarships may be available but the participant is expected to personally pay a minimum of $25.
